There is that, but I've seen Terry not hesitate for a second even when not even the wiliest accountant could claim something for expenses. For instance a lunch for 6 (I think — I can list 4, and I'm sure I remember at least a couple of others) at a rather nice Japanese restaurant in Ealing. Nothing to do with any form of convention in that case, and we'd expected to split the bill. I don't know how much he was claiming expenses against anyway — I suspect not a lot. In reference to "GNU Terry Pratchett" in internet headers: I say "Internet" because things have gone a bit Quantum and have moved well beyond the realm of merely web headers. I never met him, and when I heard about his disease I was glad. As it was I cried like a child when I heard of his death, but at least I will always know the man from his best: Granny and her bees, Death flipping burgers, Sam Vimes against the werewolf in an icy stream, Carrot the man who won't be king. If there is an author who did more to improve my character through the unpreaching example of his own creations, I couldn't name them. The world lost an important voice at a time we need him more...
