  • Commented on Crying fire in a crowded theatre for pleasure and profit
The crew seat you so that you are away from the exits :-) from experience coming back with a leg in plaster from a ski trip. But you do get better leg room :-)...
  • Commented on Crying fire in a crowded theatre for pleasure and profit

  • Commented on Crib Sheet: The Nightmare Stacks
Yeh that worked out real good for the French Napoleonic army...
  • Commented on Crib Sheet: The Nightmare Stacks
Well crown servants which I presume the laundry are owe allegiance to Liz II - though I am not sure if the UK has an equivalent of the 25th amendment do deal with a PM going mad whilst in office....
  • Commented on Crib Sheet: The Nightmare Stacks
One of the supplements for the RPG has a scenario where the players go through a gate to a future earth where this is happening very grimdark...
  • Commented on Crib Sheet: The Nightmare Stacks
True but blitzkrieg doctrine ideally you have two parallel roads with rods linking between them. And Arnhem was hampered by bad weather stopping air support and also dropping onto a town where a panzer division was reforming...
  • Commented on Crib Sheet: The Nightmare Stacks
On a vaguely laundry files related note you can now ride the GPO trains from next month, https://www.ianvisits.co.uk/blog/2017/06/07/take-a-ride-in-the-post-office-railway-next-month/...
  • Commented on Crib Sheet: The Nightmare Stacks
Deighton in Blitzkrieg quotes 50 tons per day of hay oats etc for a non mechanised division and this is required every day even when not moveing. As they say amateurs talk tactics professionals strategy and real professionals logistics....
  • Commented on Crib Sheet: The Nightmare Stacks
Trouble is those "carts" allow you to have a mechanized unit rather than horse drawn - a horse drawn unit requires a massive logistics trail to feed the horses plus blacksmiths and farriers portable forges to re show horses etc....
  • Commented on Crib Sheet: The Nightmare Stacks
One of my mates was in Iraq and loads of the brought back gasmask as souvenirs which the army had to hurriedly had to offer an amnesty as some of the masks where tainted with chemical weapons. Bovingdon tank museum...
  • Commented on The World of Tomorrow
well as cheap 3d printing wont be able to produce the working bits of a gun any time soon and arguably tradition metal working is easier and cheaper to produce guns that 3d printing using meta aka sintering. Producing howbrew...
  • Commented on PSA: The Delirium Brief
Yeh I must admit that crossed my mind too I can by the black chamber being fatally compromised some how and Shiller comes back with some power over the black chamber. But doesn't explain why the other agencies haven't put...
  • Commented on PSA: The Delirium Brief
Well as one form on magic is Kabbalistic tradition which is all about language I suspect that the OCINT section of MOSAD are fairly badass....
  • Commented on Rejection Letter
One would hope so I was at my local renal unit doing HD Dialysis on friday and boy am I am every glad the dialysis machines where not network connected :-) Though technically this might cause a delay in me...
  • Commented on Rejection Letter
I suspect that the budget meetings only have clinicians and mangers with Jen from the it crowd level of knowledge about it security and they saw the $5milion line and deleted it. Presumbaly the NHS version of Bob wasn't invited...
  • Commented on Traveller RPG, Firefly, Dumarest, Vatta's War... are they all "Star Punk"?
Ah no the Traveller jump system meant that you don't always come out at the same place having better computers/software allowed you to reduce the risk. The risk would be that you end up pointing away from your target and...
  • Commented on Traveller RPG, Firefly, Dumarest, Vatta's War... are they all "Star Punk"?
Classically in Treveller you used boost mid point turn over decelerate and jumped with 0 Delta V - its the most cost-effective way and safer. Military ships could jump with higher delta v's however managing to jump accurately enough so...
  • Commented on Traveller RPG, Firefly, Dumarest, Vatta's War... are they all "Star Punk"?
Designed using book 5, not sure if there are limits to what speed you can engange the J drives at might be tricky jumping at say > .3 C ill have to check my collection of LBB's...
  • Commented on Traveller RPG, Firefly, Dumarest, Vatta's War... are they all "Star Punk"?
Np wasn't expecting how expensive it would be. Would make a good plot point for a traveller or snapshot adventure board and take over an incoming planetoid and save a world from destruction....
  • Commented on Traveller RPG, Firefly, Dumarest, Vatta's War... are they all "Star Punk"?
Though I suspect that I might be closer to the dungeon master IRL but as proper wargamer I would have had a MRLS battery pre registered on that exit node with 666 squadrons TSR2's on QRF for a possible laydown...
  • Commented on Traveller RPG, Firefly, Dumarest, Vatta's War... are they all "Star Punk"?
I spent 15 years working for British Telecom when I read the first laundry files I thought my kind of people :-) Though hopefully I am less whiny than Bob...
  • Commented on Traveller RPG, Firefly, Dumarest, Vatta's War... are they all "Star Punk"?
Interested by this I dug out my old traveller books and ran the numbers on what it would cost to produce such a weapon using the Traveller ship design rules. On idea was you find a suitable planetoid in the...
  • Commented on Traveller RPG, Firefly, Dumarest, Vatta's War... are they all "Star Punk"?
Id take my tech 15 power armour and a FGMP 15 over a M4 any day :-)...
  • Commented on Traveller RPG, Firefly, Dumarest, Vatta's War... are they all "Star Punk"?
Yes technically but I don't recall seeing many realistic ships with 6g manoeuvre drives and I was taking planetkillers being the EE doc smith style. And I doubt that a 6G manoeuvre drive would cope with being run flat out...
  • Commented on Traveller RPG, Firefly, Dumarest, Vatta's War... are they all "Star Punk"?
And when you get higher tech like say the traveller meson guns purely kinetic weapons tend to lose effectiveness certainly at the top end my power armoured imperial marines where running a pair of high x ray lazers as dedicated...
  • Commented on Traveller RPG, Firefly, Dumarest, Vatta's War... are they all "Star Punk"?
Well the classic Traveller STL was very much Newtonian mechanics you would not be accelerating any thing to any where near C. Of course some of the JTAS supplements with input from JPL had some interesting speculative anti particle beam...
  • Commented on Traveller RPG, Firefly, Dumarest, Vatta's War... are they all "Star Punk"?
I think the idea was that piracy only worked in border areas where the imperium's writ didn't really run the Canon traveller galaxy is very large and the Navy and scouts are spread very thin....
  • Commented on Busy busy busy
Ah no depends on your grade not how much you earn Both Bob and MO are fairly senior Civil Servants now and they started on the M&P track. And Bob was probably always officer class (they might have screwed him...
  • Commented on Busy busy busy
Yes in the more formal workplaces those that require suits its fairly common work round the city and 3-4 inch pumps are fairly standard for women working in finance....
  • Commented on Busy busy busy
Erm I think your missing some of the subtle aspects of the UK's class system he is obviously middle class by birth we don't know what MO's parents where but anyone on the profesoral track is upper middle class....
