Jumped the gun when Bertie died & declared herself "Q E the Queen Mother" - an entirely new, made-up-on-the spot title. ( It should have been "The Dowager Q Elizabeth" ) Wouldn't move out of Buck House & tried to micromanage - in the end Phil said (effectively) She moves out, or I move out" - that did it. She was responsible for Diana, because she was besties with the Spencers It was quite noticeable, after she finally kicked the bucket, that Liz's sense of humour surfaced...

Troutwaxer @ 660: The Old Bat? Sorry, but that didn't cross the pond. Speaking of crossing the pond ... there's an "American" expression I was wondering if it's familiar in the U.K. or if y'all have an equivalent expression. "The Eagle flies on Friday", i.e. Friday is the day a lot of lower level workers get paid (especially construction workers). It's in the lyrics of an old blues song Stormy Monday and I was listening to an old British Invasion band's version (Them featuring Van Morrison).
