These chapters were written under contract to Addison-Wesley towards a book on using the pTk graphical toolkit with Perl.
pTk (portable Tk) is a derivative of the Tk graphical toolkit developed by Dr John Ousterhout for use with Tcl (Tool Command Language). (You can find more material relating to Tcl/Tk via Yahoo or from Sun Microsystems Laboratories.)
NOTE: I had to suspend work on this project three years ago following the collapse of my previous employer's business -- feeding myself was an urgent priority. Since then, two changes of editor and two company takeovers, plus my involvement in an e-commerce startup (which is eating all my spare time) have rendered its completion unlikely.
- Introduction
- Setting up Perl
- Starting programming in Perl
- Regular Expressions
- The Perl Programming Language
- What is a widget?
- Packing widgets together
Note: These are first drafts of the non-Tk related section of the book. The Tk-related material is now in preparation; some sections will appear here shortly.
