Word from the Squirrel's Nest

I knew it would be hard to follow the 'Kenny' cover on the last issue, and coming up with something for this one has been a pain. In frustration, I decided to do a bit of proofreading instead, and noticed that two otherwise unrelated articles both involved numerology as a tool for understanding the plans of Satan's minions.

The news in the print edition of the Prattle is often hopelessly out of date. The Pagan Prattle Online was launched late December 2001 as a way of allowing me to write up and publish interesting news as it happens. Updates are made nearly every day (which is better than the "nearly every year" frequency of the hard copy) and features stories on religious silliness and other superstitious nonsense, plus links to some of the more unusual religious web sites and to exciting religious items you can buy. It has the added benefit that the news in this print edition is somewhat more up-to-date than usual because I now have a dated archive of lots of stories!

A new feature this issue is a direct result of The Pagan Prattle Online. Bizarre Bazaar will hopefully become a fixture and is drawn from the shopping links I've posted.

Articles this issue look at the fundie response to the success of Harry Potter, and at some more unusual interpretations of the events of September 11th 2001. "Bollocks and Broomsticks" looks at the depiction of witches in Europe from the late mediæval through to the early modern period and was done purely to demonstrate that Kevin Carlyon is a clue-free zone.

The traditional bit of humour from the net is quite old, but I hadn't seen it before, so in it goes. Finally, another change. The magazine listing was of limited use, so Išve replaced it with a selection of local occult, new age and other interesting shops here in Edinburgh. It is a short extract from a much longer listing I maintain on the Paganlink site, which includes details of events, herbs and oils suppliers and more.
