A poster has recently appeared in libraries and shops around Edinburgh. It promotes "16 Days of Protest Against Violence Against Women" and lists a number of events raising awareness of several important issues. But two events are not at all valuable:
Thursday Dec 2
Justice for Women Torchlit March
Assemble 6pm South Castle Street
March to Calton Hill with Commotion Women DrummersScottish Campaign Against Pornography
PORNFIRE 7pm Calton HillFriday Dec 10
Off the Shelf campaign launch Scottish Women Against Pornography.
Co-ordinated by Scottish Women's Action Network and supported by the City of Edinburgh Council. Further information from the Equality Unit.
Although the Council has not funded the book-burning or the political campaign, it has paid for their promotion. This site explains why we think this is a bad thing.
