I don't think it takes too much effort to switch Amazon stores for your Kindle default. I've used at least six different Amazon stores without having addresses in most of their countries - their only geolocking seems to be IP-based...

I'm in Australia and my Kindle is registered to the Amazon UK store. More recently an ebook-only Amazon.com.au store opened, but I can't see any point in switching to it, if for no other reason than I never see Kindle...
