I think it's called the 'diGriz'.

Many people mistakenly think that the award is a small statue of a robotic metal rat, but the statue is actually one of a police robot crushed by a safe. Thermite charge not included. ;)

No, I'm afraid Varley won it for the _Steel Beach_'s opening line. I mean, it's hard to beat 'In five years, the penis will be obsolete.' :)

I was thinking the exact same thing. ALMOST as good as Varley's opening line in STEEL BEACH, but not quite.---Al
