  • Commented on Some rambling thoughts on region restrictions
Isn't the answer to "Who is a publisher who can operate globaly" yourself? I know you've talked about the subject in the past. It's a lot of extra work I agree....
  • Commented on A message from our sponsors
Had my UK Kindle copy preordered since the day preorders went up. Really good price too compared to what it is now. (£4.88)...
  • Commented on Amazon: malignant monopoly, or just plain evil?
It wouldn't be easy but it's certainly not impossible. Start small, provide a better service and slowly grow. Look at where Google started and where they are now. I'm still annoyed that agency pricing pretty much killed Fictionwise....
  • Commented on Amazon: malignant monopoly, or just plain evil?
Just out of interest could you explain your reasoning for wanting to see agency pricing for trade books?...
  • Commented on Amazon: malignant monopoly, or just plain evil?
@Robotech master. Please note I'm not saying I disagree with what Amazon is doing. I'm just bearing in mind that I'm a guest at Charlie's blog and at present since Amazon doesn't discuss negotiations in public we're only hearing one...
  • Commented on Amazon: malignant monopoly, or just plain evil?
Has Amazon UK started pressure? I was browsing Charlie's books this morning and I noticed Neptune's brood had a higher price than the paperback copy. Suspiciously high. Like rrp high with no discounting (The tactics they've been using in the...
  • Commented on Amazon: malignant monopoly, or just plain evil?
I've got a few books with the 5 device limit. It's very annoying but it's the publishers who've insisted on that. Like the insistence on DRM (Haven't you blogged about that before?)...
  • Commented on Amazon: malignant monopoly, or just plain evil?
Joe Konrath has written a rebuttal to this article http://jakonrath.blogspot.co.uk/2014/05/fisking-charlie-stross-more-on.html Does anyone else think these negotiations are all about agency pricing again? What do you think about agency pricing Charlie?...
  • Commented on Some news about the Hugo voters packet
I think this is a mistake to be perfectly honest but up to them. Doesn't bother me anyway. I bought all three books when they first came out. Perhaps something to keep in mind for the next time authors negotiate...
  • Commented on "The next big thing"
I want to read more New Space Opera. Who's doing it these days?...
  • Commented on Sitrep
That's a cat? I thought CASE NIGHTMARE GREEN had started early...
  • Commented on Commercial announcement
Ok. Further to my earlier post I have now started reading Bloodline Feud. I'm about halfway through and I have to say I'm really enjoying it. Wish I'd stuck at it earlier :)...
  • Commented on Commercial announcement
I bought the first combined volume when they came out in the UK KIndle store early in 2013. I didn't get very far in though. It seemed like I was about to read a "Modern person ends up in medieval...
  • Commented on We interrupt this broadcast ...
I've had my UK Kindle edition preordered since April 13th. Looking forward to putting it on my pile of shame (Which operates on a totally random order :) ) I might read it after I finish Jack Glass...
