There's one of those fake 'pine tree' cell phone towers on the outskirts of my city. At 60-70 meters tall there is no attempt to have the 'branches' taper with height so it looks really alien in an area covered...

Bill Arnold @ 620: FWIW, new paper (PNAS: UCLA/LLNL(Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory)) on that subject, pinning most of the blame for increased fire risk in the Western USA on human-caused global heating. Bugger that for a lark. I wish we WERE ruled by a technocratic elite, rather than a kleptocratic one. As I have said, I have never seen any of the dogmatists provide a scrap of evidence that there is anything good about democracy per se. I agree with Churchill. Yes, I am a member of the technocratic elite and (at least by upbringing) almost part of the ruling class, and have recognised that for ages. But, being Aspergers and all that it entails, I have never been part of the ruling elite, and can't see why I should be -...
